Sol Badguy

Sol Badguy

Sol Badguy, known largely as the Guilty Gear or the Flame of Corruption.

What is a Gear? Gears were destructive creations made only to cause absolute chaos. Sol happened to once be a human named Frederick and was actually a creator of Gears, until he found out what their true purposes were. That's when the guilt came and he realized the only way to atone for his mistake was to destroy his own creations. Problem was that Gears are superhuman. They're immune to the effects of age and they're over-powerful.

So how does one kill a Gear? The answer is, you'd have to be a Gear. And so Frederick became the very thing he hated, with Sol Badguy as the result. Sol spent most of his life hunting down Gears and murdering them before they caused any more havoc.

And, I can tell you, he is powerful. I know from experience. Not that Sol deliberately assaults his friends, but when his Gear side takes over, be prepared for a massacre. The only reason he isn't always slaughtering everyone in sight is because there's still a bit of Frederick left in his head. Sure it drives Sol mad, but it does keep him sane. He refers to Frederick as an entirely different person, even though they share the same body; even though Frederick was there first. He just can't accept Frederick as him, or a part of him at least.

Sol has changed a lot since he's first wandered into this land. He came because he had met Hayato before, so knew him. Sol was kind to me, but then I figured out his background. Turns out he was an infamous, ruthless bounty hunter. He was self-dependent, cold, and avoided speaking to people unless absolutely necessary. He was shifty-natured, mistrusted, and he put on the pretense of being lazy to get out of things. Nobody liked him. Everybody hated him.

Sol Badguy was beyond rude. He was a chain-smoker (and still is!). He only would openly participate in things if he could do them his way. And no one could boss him into doing it any other way unless they risked their necks. Basically, he wasn't a nice man and it would be best to steer clear of him. Otherwise - he's had over 150 years' time to master his powerful fighting skills - be careful! They're no joke!

I found out about his past record. Let's say he wasn't too pleased about that. I realized he's come to this land to change his ways, and he has been successful. It's been hard to reform him, but he's not half as bad as he used to be. He actually can be made to get along with Ky Kiske, his life-time rival and former leader.

I've gotten into the habit of calling Sol "my dear friend." True he has a mile wide rebellious streak and an attitude problem only the gods know who can fix, but he's alright with me. If ever there were such thing as a caring Gear, Sol Badguy is the One.
